The ultimate bacon sandwich is not only a science (literally – experts at Leeds University invested serious time working out what makes the perfect bacon sandwich) but is a matter of personal preference. No matter, we feel it’s our duty to let you know how we at spoiltpig HQ like our bacon sandwiches. Honestly, these really are the ultimate!
Pre-heat a griddle pan for 4-5mins ensuring it’s nice and hot. Add the streaky and back bacon to the pan ensuring they don’t overlap in the pan. Resist any temptation to move the bacon around the pan whilst cooking, be patient and wait for the fat to turn a crisp golden colour before turning to cook the other side. Cook according to your preference, we like ours on the crisp side.
Butter two slices of the farmhouse white bread. Place 2 rashers of back bacon and 3 rashers of streaky bacon on each buttered slice. Squeeze your sauce of choice over the bacon (not too much, you don’t want to drown out the flavour of the bacon) and then top with the unbuttered slice of bread. Cut in half. Eat. Enjoy!
