The Hail to the King sandwich

Elvis Presley. Musician. Legend. King. Died on the toilet. Great taste in food. Purportedly his favourite dish, this sandwich is not one to indulge in if trying to lose weight. But, however wrong it may sound, trust us when we say that the King knew how to create a quality sandwich. This is simply delicious.

What you will need

  • 3tbsp smooth peanut butter
  • 2 slices of thick white toasting bread
  • 1 medium banana
  • 3 rashers of unsmoked Spoiltpig Unsmoked Back Bacon
  • 2-3tsp slightly salted butter

How to prepare

Bacon first. Heat a griddle pan over a medium heat and add the rashers of spoiltpig bacon. Allow to cook for approx. 3-4mins each side until the bacon turns a golden brown. Remove from the pan and set aside on a plate to cool.

In a bowl, mash up the banana into a rough, spreadable pulp.

Now to prepare the bread. Butter one side of each piece of bread. Spread the peanut butter onto one side of one slice of bread. Spread the banana pulp over the peanut butter and over that, place your rashers of cooked bacon. Place the other piece of bread on top with the butter side up.

Re-heat the griddle pan you used earlier over a medium heat. Gently fry the sandwich on both sides until you achieve a golden brown colouration on the bread and the peanut butter starts to gently ooze from the sandwich. Then eat. Thankyouverymuch…
